PROGRAMS AT GLFA
The Greater Lawrence Fellowship of the Arts (GLFA) offers programs that enable students to find their unique voice through the expressive arts. GLFA also provides tools and practices to help students process challenges through journaling, breathwork, grounding exercises, and more.
Each class is divided into 12-week sessions. Students can showcase their creativity and artistry at the end of each session.
DANCE/MOVEMENT:
Students will learn to tell a story by conveying thoughts and emotions using their bodies through dance and movements. A fusion of ballet, contemporary, jazz, modern, and more will provide the “language” through which these stories are told
MUSIC:
Students will learn storytelling through music. Students will learn composition, songwriting, and music production skills to find their unique voice to convey thoughts and emotions.
POETRY:
Students will learn the inspiring power of words using poetry. Figurative language, themes, rhymes, and rhythm are some of the tools students will use to find their voice and express themselves on a variety of topics.
VISUAL ART:
Students will use drawings, charcoal, and watercolor to create pieces to express themselves. Students will learn to use visual art to provoke thought, communicate ideas, express their thoughts and feelings, and entertain the viewer.
THEATER/PLAYWRITING:
Students will learn some of the tools and techniques of theater to write a short play. Each piece will be an expression of a topic specific to each student. Fellow students will portray characters in each piece.
